Spanish & English Dual Language
Teacher of the Year 2008
Dual Language Education of New Mexico (DLeNM) recognizes that there are many outstanding dual language classroom teachers in New Mexico. This special honor is in recognition of those educators who have made contributions to Dual Language Education beyond the normal scope of their assigned responsibilities in the classroom. At the 2008 La Cosecha Dual Language Conference, a New Mexican Spanish and a New Mexico English Dual Language Classroom Teacher will be honored for her/his excellence, dedication and advocacy for Dual Language Programs.
DLeNM recognizes the Spanish Resource Center in Albuquerque, NM, the Bilingual & Multicultural Education Bureau at the PED, CETLALIC, the Progressive Spanish Language School in Cuernavaca, Mexico, and DLeNM, as the principal sponsors of this event.

District Nominee Expectations
Districts that support the implementation of at least one Spanish/English Dual Language Program are encouraged to submit one Spanish Dual Language nominee and one English Dual Language nominee for these annual awards. The nominee from each district will be considered the Teacher of the Year for their district. A committee of Dual Language educators, along with sponsor representatives will select the finalist from the submitted applicants. The top three Spanish and English Dual Language Teacher of the Year Honorees will be selected from the submitted entries and will be notified by the end of August 2008 so that they can prepare a collaborative presentation of their best dual language practice(s) at the 2008 La Cosecha Conference. All of the district nominees, the top three selected honorees, and the Teacher of the Year finalist will be honored during the 2008 La Cosecha Conference Banquet, on Friday November 14, 2008.
Teacher of the Year Nominee Expectations
The top three Spanish and English Dual Language Teacher of the Year Honorees will be selected from the submitted nominee entries. Each will be required to present their best practice(s) at the 2008 La Cosecha Conference. These top three Spanish and English Honorees will be contacted by the end of August 2008 so that each honoree can collaborate with the others and to prepare their group presentation. Electronic versions of each honoree’s presentation and any handouts must be submitted to DLeNM by September 30, 2008 so that the information can be placed on the 2008 La Cosecha Conference CD. Since the top three Spanish and English Teacher of the Year honorees will be presenting at the 2008 La Cosecha Conference, they each will receive complementary registration for the 2008 La Cosecha Conference.
